The New Bedford Preservation Society has opportunities for those interested in becoming volunteer tour guides. Volunteers in this category are utilized at various society events; such as the Historic Holiday Tour, cemetery tours; and summer neighborhood walking tours. The Preservation Society also has opportunities for office volunteers.
- House Tour guide volunteers will receive “house-specific” training immediately prior to the house tour events. Cemetery tour guides will also receive training prior to the event.
- Office volunteers assist with historical research, grant preparation, bulk-mailing projects, data entry, photocopying, filing, and fund-raising activities. Experience with the use of office machines, computers, data entry, graphics, telephone skills and public relations are valuable in this volunteer category.
